Westport is a nice small town in County Mayo, with colourful streets, a vibrant atmosphere, and scenic landscapes. It is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Galway, and I visited it with my friends. I started my journey in this beautiful country as a student in Galway.

Along with Achill Island, there is Keem Beach. In Achill Island or Keem Beach, a lot of people get to see dolphins in the summer. Camping in these 2 spots is also a popular activity.
Climb Croagh Patrick
Visiting Climbing Croagh Patrick is one of the highest peaks and a popular activity in Westport. This mountain is located west of Westport and by climbing it you will have panoramic views of the Clew Bay and surroundings.
Exploring the mountain on a clear sunny day is best as you can fully enjoy breathtaking views and landscapes. The climb will be challenging due to the rocky terrain and sometimes become steep and uneven but the view from the top is just stunning.
Visit Westport House
Westport House is a must-visit attraction. The history of this house dates back to 400 years ago. It was first established in the late 17th century and has undergone some changes. It overlooks a lake and houses scenic gardens and parklands

Bertra Beach is located about 12 km west of Westport. It is a Blue Flag beach, meaning the water quality and safety of the beach is high and a lifeguard is present during summer.
Watching the sunset and birdwatching at the beach was one of the highlights of my travel. Swimming, surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing are the other options that you can enjoy.
