As you can see in the picture below there’s a hole near Largy coastal beach which is the entrance to the cave. After a short walk, you’ll face the exceptional Secret Waterfall with its dramatic and enchanting atmosphere.
Besides its phenomenal beauty and peaceful atmosphere, it is a little bit colder inside the cave which makes it so pleasant. I had a mysterious journey in this waterfall with lots of amazing memories.

Detailed Guide to Secret Waterfall
Location
The Secret Waterfall, also known as Largy Waterfall or Hidden Waterfall, is located in Largy, southwest of Donegal. Below you check its location on Google Maps.
Parking
The parking area of the Secret Waterfall is located at Largy Viewpoint. There is a small parking place available at Largy Viewpoint, so you should plan ahead to find a parking area for your car. Especially, during peak seasons or summer when the waterfall becomes crowded, you might have difficulty finding a parking place for yourself.
Please note, that it is very important to park your car only in the designated area at Largy Viewpoint, and not along the road.
How to Get to the Secret Waterfall Donegal?
After parking your car you need to walk along a private lane and field, as you can see in the picture below, for around 500 meters to reach Largy coastal beach. Your walk to the beach will be about 5 – 7 minutes.
After that, your way will be through rocks that might be slippery. However, crossing the rocks is not too difficult and you just need to wear non-slippery footwear.
Please note, that a higher level of water on the beach can cause difficulty, and accessing the waterfall cannot be ideal in this situation. Therefore, it’s always better to forecast weather conditions. Please, make sure that steps are firm and strong enough and then walk on them.

First and foremost, you should check the tide timings. Walking in the cave to see the waterfall during high tides is just putting yourself in danger and risking your life. The waterfall is accessible only during low tide.
Moreover, don’t forget to put on proper footwear, like hiking boots or water shoes to avoid falling when the path becomes slippery.
Check the weather conditions be vigilant and take your time when crossing the rocks to avoid accidents.
Tide Times
It is crucial to visit the Secret Waterfall only during low tide. When you’re in a cave during high tide you might get stuck and cut off by the incoming tide which is very dangerous. As tide times can change depending on the day you want to visit and the time of the year, it is necessary to check tide times in advance.

Donegal Castle is a beautiful setting with a rich history behind that. Its architecture is so unique and showcases the 15th century, the time that it was built. It was partially restored in the early 1990s and some parts were added to its structure.
